A new adventure


I can’t believe it’s May!  So much has happened in the last year and so much lies ahead.  Since last May, I completed graduate school, adding two Master’s degrees to my name, and started my first “adult” job.   My love, the scientist, passed his candidacy exam and is preparing for a first author publication (so exciting).  We got engaged (and planned a wedding)!!!!  We travelled to see family, we hosted our first Thanksgiving, and we managed some significant losses (read major stressors).  It has been quite the adventure.

Through all of this, I decided to take the steps necessary to become a healthier person.  At times I have wanted to see results faster, but I am working on being gentle with myself and am proud of my slow and steady progress.  In the past eight months I have lost 30 pounds.  Now that I am getting a handle on what works for me and have built the confidence that I can continue in my weight loss journey, I want to share my experiences and adventures with others.  I’m not a fitness professional, but I know social support is a key factor in everything we do!  I couldn’t have accomplished the first 30, without the loving support of my family and through the ideas that so many other bloggers have shared!  THANK YOU ALL!!!  This is my journey and an ongoing process.  I have not reached the finished line, but I invite you to join me as I keep pushing forward on my quest for overall health, fun adventures, and improved fitness.
